Our Story: Bringing European Tradition to Grapevine
BreadHaus was born from a simple passion: to bring authentic European artisan bread to the heart of Texas. Located in historic Grapevine, our bakery serves the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex with traditional, naturally leavened breads that honor centuries-old baking techniques.
What sets BreadHaus apart is our unwavering commitment to quality and authenticity. We use only 100% organic ingredients, allow our dough to ferment naturally over extended periods, and refuse to take shortcuts with commercial yeast or chemical additives. Every loaf of sourdough bread, every pretzel, and every pastry is crafted by hand using traditional European methods that produce superior flavor, texture, and nutritional value.
Our bakery has become a beloved destination for residents throughout Grapevine, Southlake, Colleyville, and the greater DFW area who appreciate the difference that real, artisanal baking makes. Whether you're seeking authentic German pretzels, long-fermented sourdough, or traditional European sweets, BreadHaus offers an experience that transports you straight to a European bakery—right here in Texas.
What Our Customers Say
The best bakery!!! I studied abroad in Germany and this place is so comforting and reminds me so much of being there. The breads and pastries are all delicious and well priced. Enough options for me to keep trying new things each time I come!!
First time visitor, bought the chocolate cake and the olive bread. OMG both were delicious! This place will be a few favorite to visit when in Grapevine. I cannot wait to serve the Olive bread to some friends who are visiting soon from out of state.
We absolutely 100% LOVE this old fashioned, traditional bakery. We drive over 170 miles to come specifically here. We get the salzstangen, pretzels, sourdough, oatmeal, streusel and so much more. We love everything they offer and almost cry when we can't get it. This is a staple for us and we will always keep coming back.
Frequently Asked Questions
What makes BreadHaus bread different from store-bought bread?
Our artisan breads are naturally leavened using traditional sourdough starters and long fermentation processes, which develop complex flavors and make the bread easier to digest. Unlike commercial breads, we use 100% organic ingredients and absolutely no artificial preservatives, dough conditioners, or additives. Every loaf is handcrafted using time-honored European techniques.
What does "naturally leavened" mean?
Naturally leavened bread uses wild yeast and beneficial bacteria from a sourdough starter rather than commercial yeast. This traditional method requires longer fermentation times—sometimes 12 to 48 hours—which breaks down gluten, increases nutrient availability, and creates the distinctive tangy flavor and chewy texture that artisan bread is known for.
Are all of your ingredients organic?
We are committed to using organic flour, grains, and seeds in all of our breads and baked goods. We source these organic ingredients from trusted suppliers who share our commitment to quality. You can learn more about our strict ingredient standards on our Ingredient Standards page.
How should I store artisan bread?
For best results, store your BreadHaus bread at room temperature in a paper bag or bread box for 2-3 days. For longer storage, slice and freeze the bread in an airtight container for up to 3 months. To refresh day-old bread, lightly mist with water and warm in a 350°F oven for 5-10 minutes.
Do you offer gluten-free options?
While we specialize in traditional wheat-based European breads, we understand dietary needs vary. Please contact us directly or visit our bakery to learn about current gluten-free offerings. Note that all products are made in a facility that processes wheat and gluten.
Can I order BreadHaus bread online for delivery?
Yes! You can place orders online through our online ordering system. We offer pickup and local delivery options to serve customers throughout Grapevine and the surrounding DFW area. Fresh bread is best enjoyed shortly after baking, so we recommend pickup for optimal quality.
What are your most popular items?
Our customers love our long-fermented sourdough loaves, traditional German pretzels, olive bread, and our selection of European-style sweets. Each item on our menu is crafted with the same attention to quality and traditional methods that have made BreadHaus a favorite bakery in Grapevine.
Do you do catering or special orders for events?
Absolutely! We'd be delighted to provide fresh artisan breads and baked goods for your special events, corporate gatherings, or celebrations. Please contact us at sales@breadhaus.com or call us during business hours to discuss your catering needs and custom orders.
